30 July 2015 was a special day for Matiu/Somes - time for the triennial Big Clean-Up!
After days of planning and preparation for this major operation the big day arrived, along with smooth seas, fine weather for once, and a band of willing DOC staff and volunteers.
The careful planning proved its worth as the complex operation involving the transfer of materials and vehicles to and from the island went without a hitch.
With everything packed on the ferry it was time for a well-earned snack and chat for the band of willing workers!
