Chick 30's departure 30 days after arriving on Matiu/Somes was meant to be the end of the 2014 translocation season.
However, about the same time chick 40 was delivered to The Nest at Wellington Zoo, having been gathered up at the Southern Cross bar in Upper Cuba Street, Wellington.
One might think it had attempted to crash the post-match celebrations of the Wellington Sevens, but more likely it got confused by city lights on a wet night with low cloud. It's apparently uninjured and will hopefully return to Matiu/Somes and attempt to depart again.
